Earlier, IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin said Israeli forces expect to complete attacks on key parts of Iran’s military production system within days. Addressing a press conference, he added, “This means we will destroy most of the military production capabilities, and it will take the regime a long time to restore them.”

The plans are being developed in case US President Donald Trump decides to escalate military action. Officials say the preparations could support a longer and more intense phase of the conflict.

USS Tripoli enters active combat theatre

Notably, the USS Tripoli (LHA-7) has entered the CENTCOM area with around 3,500 Marines and soldiers.

The ship is one of the largest amphibious assault ships (AAS) in the US Navy and serves as the flagship of its strike group. It carries fighter aircraft, transport units, and other combat assets, strengthening the US military presence in the region.

In a post on X, the US CENTCOM said, “US sailors and Marines aboard the USS Tripoli arrived in CENTCOM’s Area of Responsibility on March 27. The America-class AAS serves as the flagship of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.”

The deployment signals increased readiness by the United States as the situation in West Asia continues to evolve.
